In some church circles, you hear someone occasionally ask the question of a particular activity, “Is this a sin?” Those present weigh how “evil” or “good” the activity is and then answer yes or no. My problem with questions that ask whether something is a sin or not, is the assumption that by abstaining from a collection of culturally stigmatized actions, that one can become sinless, and thusly more like God, so consequentially more qualified for heaven.
